I took this on Day 35 of the walk from Refuge du Ras de la Caranca (where I camped) to Py. Found an excellent restaurant at Mantet, run by a Bob Dylan fan. Many of these cols have signs giving the altitude. Many of the walkers I met were navigating with topo guides and altmeters and used the signs to confirm their position and calibrate their altmeters. They didn't carry maps.
